What Is Humility?
It is being kind to others, loving others, helping others, putting others first. By doing this, you build them up, show them a better way, change their attitude, change their whole life. As Jesus did for us, we can do for others.
It is not submissive or self-diminishing, it is not wrong or pitiful, it is not being weak as satan would have us believe. Satan was full of pride and wanted to be like God, so God gave Satan his own kingdom, the kingdom of hell (Pride is the opposite of humility). Satan tries to fool us in believing humility is wrong, submissive and weak, but Jesus proved Satan wrong by humbling Himself and showing humility for others. Jesus did this because He loves us and He could see their struggles and the help they needed.
To be proud of somebody for accomplishing something is ok, but to be filled with pride in an arrogant way, boastful way, or a hurtful way is not ok and God sees that as a deadly sin. “God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:6
Though others don’t respond well to authority, they don’t like being told what to do, however they do appreciate the kindness of a humble person just trying to help them. Others are more willing to accept your help and share it with others themselves, if you kindly put them first. Give them your full and undivided attention, have patience and show them love. Humility cost nothing, but gains everything, in Jesus name.
